General
The Symposium will be held at the “Centre du Parc“, Av. des Prés-Beudin 20, Martigny.

Presentations
A period of 15 minutes and an additional discussion time of 5 minutes will be allotted to each presentation. Key lectures are scheduled with 30 minutes for presentation. A period of 2 minutes will be alloted to each poster presentation in plenary session.
Standard equipment (overhead projector, computer projector, screen, microphone, and pointer) will be available in the lecture room; other audio-visual equipment will be made available on request well in advance before the Symposium starts.
To avoid delays, presenters are requested to bring their presentation(s) on a USB-key or on a CD when they register. The presentations will be saved on a central computer. To avoid technical problems, presentations must be readable by PowerPoint on a Windows XP system.
Technical Program
The technical program will include 3 keynote lectures, about 40 lecture presentations and about 75 poster presentations. A "booklet of extended abstracts" as well as a "Proceedings CD" including all articles will be available at the symposium. Besides these presentations a round-table entitled "Are Active Magnetic Bearings a mature field or are there emerging research topics?" will take place on Wednesday, August 23rd.
Social Program
On Monday, August 21st, besides the welcome dinner, the participants can, regarding their preference, visit of the Fondation Pierre Gianadda or degustate typical Swiss wines during the visit of a wine cellar. On Tuesday, August 22nd, a half-day tour to the Emosson dam followed by a dinner on the dam is scheduled. On Wednesday, August 23rd, a farewell cocktail will be proposed to close the conference. Regular symposium participants and registered accompanying persons will be welcome at these events.
Family Program
A family program with a boat tour on Lake Geneva and a visit of Chillon Castle will be proposed on Monday August 21st, with an English and Japanese speaking guide. This will also be an opportunity to learn about the recreational offer in the Martigny-Lausanne-Aosta area, where Switzerland, Italy and France meet.
