SCOPE
Subject
The biannual Symposium on Magnetic Bearings has established itself as the prime forum of communication for the community of magnetic bearing researchers and developement engineers. It is also a point of contact of the academic and industrial professionals in the domain of contact-free magnetic bearing systems.
Magnetic bearing applications are steadily increasing in number while new application fields are emerging. Active electromagnetic rotor bearings may be percieved as having reached a mature state. But the opposite point of view could be argued just as well : There is much activity in entirely new fields, in research and applications. A variety of new topics are drawing interest and resources in many institutions worldwide, new actors are joining. The topics relevant for ISMB10 are given in the list below, ISMB10 will provide clues as to where future trends will lead magnetic bearing technology.
Main Topics
Both aspects of research and applications, are of interest for this Symposium.
The topics are centered around, but not limited to:
- Active magnetic bearings
- Passive magnetic bearings
- Electrodynamic bearings
- Sensors, actuators, controllers for magnetic bearings
- Industrialization, reliability aspects
- Modeling and identification
- Self-bearing (bearing less) motors
- Self-sensing (sensor less) techniques
- Contact-free bearings for flywheels
- Superconductors, diamagnetic bearings
- Micro Bearings, ultra high speed bearings
- Other related new fields
